SF Glens Evolution has partnered with Expert Tutoring to bring you our very own, in-house HPST prep course!
The HSPT (High School Placement Test) is a comprehensive placement test for eighth graders applying to private high schools and is primarily used by several San Francisco Catholic schools. Even if your child will be taking a different test, the skills are applicable for all the high school admittance exams.
The test, which is out of 800 points, takes approximately 2.5 hours and has 5 multiple choice sections. The test covers verbal skills, language skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary, quantitative skills, and math.
SFGE’s course, run by professional tutors, will offer 15 small classroom sessions following the Expert Tutoring HSPT curriculum. The cost of the class will also include 2 full-length practice tests that will be administered on a weekend. These weekends will be scheduled around tournaments weekends (and as best as we can around games). The one-hour course will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays at 4:00. Students are welcome to attend either or both sessions a week (the Monday material will be repeated at the Thursday session). If there is enough feedback for a 5-6pm session, we will open this session up as an option.
From there, players have two options: -- They can get on the N-Judah Train as a group and go down to Beach Chalet for their 5:30 practice -- They can get picked up and head home for dinner and homework
The cost of the course will be $350 for the entire 15 week session with an official start date of 9/19. AN INTRO FOR THE COURSE WILL BE HELD AT THE CLUB HOUSE ON 9/15 FROM 4:00-5:00PM. The price will also include an “Application Essay Writing Workshop” to be introduced during the course.
