These efforts have strengthened the Bay Area soccer community and aids some of San Francisco’s most impactful social benefit organizations, including SF-Marin Food Bank, Best Buddies California, Habitat For Humanity, Street Soccer USA, Raphael House, and America Scores Bay Area. ABOUT SF GLENS EVOLUTION SF Glens Evolution is the largest non-profit youth soccer club in San Francisco, formed from the merging of two clubs, Evolution FC and SF Glens, to provide a unique soccer product that is accessible for all families in San Francisco. SFGE offers every level of play for its members, from recreational to competitive soccer. SFGE was recently awarded the highest level of youth competition in the United States when they obtained US Soccer Development Academy status. In addition to programs on the field, SFGE also offers educational opportunities for its members. “SFGE Homework Club” was launched last fall to prepare middle school students for the High School Placement Tests. Other programs that SFGE administer are: community days of action, college nights, coaches education programs and supporting local school festivals. SFGE is very excited to announce that San Francisco Glens Evolution has been accepted as a US Soccer Development Academy program! This is the highest level of competition for youth soccer in the United States. Due to our success on and off the field, with our player development model and one of the best coaching lineups in the Bay Area, US Soccer felt that our club deserved this honor. SFGE is true to its values; we develop our players and promote a true club feel. What is the Development Academy Program? Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007. The Academy Program's philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition. The Academy Program focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. The Academy values individual development of elite players over winning trophies and titles. The Academy sets the standard for elite environments for youth soccer clubs nationwide and is a part of U.S. Soccer's global leadership position in youth soccer that will impact thousands of players.
In December 2016, SFGE made an exciting announcement that outlined the creation of the Celtic Academy. The Celtic Academy was created in conjunction with Celtic FC and SFGE to provide a top-level competitive program that will provide the best environment for the city's best players. This exciting development has been in the works for a long time and we are ecstatic to be able to offer a wholesome program to for competitive players in San Francisco. The program will include top licensed coaches, academic support, comprehensive player pathway, and player identification among other benefits. The city has never seen a program that will serve our competitive players with the tools to succeed in life. To learn more about the groundbreaking Celtic Academy, Click Here
